Julien-K played their first show of the year last Wednesday at LA’s own Roxy Theatre. They brought with them an allstar lineup which included theSTART and Dead Rose Beauty. I had never seen or heard Dead Rose Beauty before but they were a great start to the night and their energy kept my attention. theSTART played next and they were amazing as usual. Julien-K supporters who had never seen theSTART became instant fans that night. You can’t go wrong with a matchup like that!
Julien-K were the stars of the night. As the crowd gazed at closed stage curtains the sound of “Death to Analog” filled the venue. Excitement grew as the curtains went up and everyone went wild once singer Ryan Shuck made his way to the mic. They surprised us by bringing out Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington to sing along to both “Maestro” and their closing song, “Technical Difficulties”. We got to hear most of the songs off of their album as well as a song called “Dreamland” that they hadn’t played live before.
Full set list in order: Death to Analog, Futura, Someday Soon, Kick The Bass, Look at You, System De Sexe, Dreamland, Maestro, Forever, Spiral, Technical Difficulties.
Can’t wait to see more Julien-K this year as this was one of the best performances I’ve seen in a while. For pictures check out our picture section or view my set on FlickrLast 5 posts by Alyssa Tucker
