Clash of the Atheists

I hate to be wrong. I’m sorry folks, normally I’m spot on with my opinions but I was taken by the sham that was Clash of the Titans. So, instead of spending a few paragraphs summing up how horrible it was, I’m just going to run through the movie for you and hopefully save you the 15 or 20 bucks per ticket to go see this mess. This review will be in 3D, so please grab your 3D glasses and get ready.

Clash of the Titans opens up rather slowly, with a meager plot about the gods being horrible to mortals. This is Greek Mythology, the gods are down right bastards. Nobody in their right mind should like them, but this movie does such a poor job of explaining this, even with the boring ass retelling of the Gods we all know, they never explain anything about their actions. It simply opens with a fisherman finding young Perseus (the Avatar guy) floating in a coffin in the ocean and raising him as his own. A young Perseus questions his role in this fishing family and the adopted dad confirms this bastard is just as good as his own offspring. 12 years later he is all grown up and his adopted father fails to catch fish, proclaiming dramatically “Somebody must stand up to the gods”

After sitting through the awful 3D of Alice in Wonderland and thinking my head might explode before the end, I went to see Clash in good ole 2D mode. Guess what? I liked it. I thought it make a ton more sense than the 70′s version. It was a solid popcorn muncher of a ride film. I really think the post process 3D effort is hurting more than it helps. Eye strain makes you far more critical of the thing passing before your eyes. My 2 cents for what its worth. I did enjoy your drawings.

Yeah, maybe a nice 2D version would be less annoying. I think what angered me most was seeing what was removed from this film, and the last minute hacking and cutting that changed the tone of it. I don’t mind popcorn flicks, but they tinkered with this one too much and muddled it up for me. The 70′s version made less sense, but it made up for it with spirit and character. It tried harder, they only had clay to work with too!
