Last year’s biggest PS3 game was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. So much so, that they are reselling it as “game of the year” with downloadable content from the Playstation Network with added bonus stuff. This game is such a hit they are now in developments to make it a movie. If you haven’t played the game, you must pick it up. Uncharted is a modern day Indiana Jones. The main character of the game is, Nathan Drake and ancestor of Sir Frances Drake. The advantage of it being a game is that you are more involved and connected with the character. The game has movie like quality and such great acting, it’s no surprise why there is a movie being made
David O. Russell (Three Kings) has been officially tied to write and direct the movie adaptation of the game. This is a movie (beside Y: The Last Man) I can’t wait to see in live action. I had a conversation with a friend of mine on casting and of course both of us said Nathan Fillion, but something occurred to me. Drake is not 40 like Fillion will be. Drake is in his late 20s. Now, although I think Fillion would be great, there are other choices out there. So here is just a list of my picks, if I had to cast for Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.
For the part of Nathan Drake, James Roday from Psych. He has the comedic and physical capability to play the lead. He is younger than Fillon and has the same charisma and charm that embodies Drake.
For Elena Fisher I want to say Emily Rose who did the voice but for movie sake, Elizabeth Banks. She has the beauty and girl next door like quality to play the corky, assured, and feistiness that comes with Elena Fisher.
Victor Sullivan or Sully would HAVE to be played by Bruce Campbell. If you’ve seen Burn Notice you know his character Sam Ax is pretty similar to Sully. Campbell will have no problem stepping into Sully’s shoes. Also perhaps just to throw it out there, Bruce Willis. Well look at that, two Bruces.
Gabriel Roman: Terence Limey can play him easy. He can play evil to the Tee, and it really looks like they modeled Roman after him. Just look!
Atoq Navarro: Benicio Del Toro. He really looks like Navarro and can also play a villain and would be great as Navarro.
Of course this is just my list of people I think would be great for the roll. I’m sure with all the Twitter hoopla, they will end up casting Nathan Fillion as Drake, and I don’t mind because I know he will be amazing, since we know he can deliver with this type of character. I’m a BIG Nathan Fillion fan don’t get me wrong, but I just hope they do look at other options than just choosing the “obvious one.”Last 5 posts by Rick Weasel
